All In A Day's Work

Last Saturday, Allan and I spent the day at our land. I piled limb after limb on our burn pile. I even managed to drag a few trees on to it. There was blood, sweat and tears, well no tears, but blood and sweat were involved! There were nearly tears though when a tree branch swung back and hit me in the head. I didn't know I was hurt until I wiped what I thought was sweat, but it was blood instead. Yes, that is a hot water heater next to the burn pile. I hope it doesn't explode and send us into orbit when we get a fire going on the brush pile.

I spy with my little eye- one Dr. Pepper can, one water bottle, one doritos package, and one 100 calorie cookie package.

Yes, this is a bullet-riddled hot water heater. Old hot water heaters make great targets for target practice. I wish I could say that I put all those holes in there, but I have to be honest and say that I didn't hit the target one time! Not once! I'm usually a pretty good shot but not this time.

Allan began to try to clean the brush around our pond. As he was backing the tractor up, I could see it all ending badly but luckily it didn't.

Watching him work made me tired. I went back up to the picnic table and drank another Dr. Pepper.

I decided to go looking for Christmas trees since there are so many beautiful cedar trees. We won't be bringing any of them into our house since we are allergic to them. There are so many to choose from anyway so how would I ever decide on the right one?
This one has a nice shape to it.

I then ran across this pitiful little Charlie Brown tree. Maybe one day it will be big and pretty as the others.

Still brush hogging!

He was listening to his ipod the whole time he was working. I KNOW the main track he was listening to was Kenny Chesney's "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy". I can just hear it now-
"She thinks my tractor's sexy
It really turns her on
She's always staring at me
While I'm chuggin along!


All in all it was a good day. Now, if i can just not break out in poison oak I'll be fine!

Friday Five! 5 things that are always in the fridge

I decided I would do this week's Friday Five since I just stocked up on groceries yesterday. There are quite a few things that are usually in the fridge, but these five are ALWAYS in the fridge!

1. Dr. Pepper! My weakness for sure! But, seriously, I AM going to quit drinking them soon. Seriously, I am. I am going to be more serious that I have been the other 532 times that I've tried to quit. Seriously!

2. Yoplait Yogurt! Very yummy! I have a carton of this nearly every night as a snack-so many tasty flavors to choose from. Can you believe there is chocolate yogurt? If you haven't tried it, then try it! You'll be hooked.

3. 2% Milk-usually either Borden's or Braum's. We made the switch from whole milk to 2% many years ago and it's not bad at all. I don't know that I can go to 1% or skim just quite yet. That might be a little TOO healthy!

4. Ranch Dressing! We should buy stock in this company because I'm positive we have gone through many, many gallons of this over the years. My family puts it on almost anything and everything.

5. Cheese! Another MUST HAVE on a daily basis. Shredded cheese, sliced cheese, cheese sauce, block cheese-I'm not picky-gotta have them all!

1. Victoria's Secret Very SexyVery Sexy is my favorite perfume!! I wear it almost every day! One of my elders at church always comments that it smells very nice, and I'm so afraid that one day he's going to ask me what kind it is! I don't think I can tell him that it's "Very Sexy"!

2. Bath & Body Works Midnight Pomegranate

Midnight Pomegranate is my favorite B&BW scent right now! I just love the fruity smelly good stuff! So good!

Show Us Your Life-Singles!

Kelly's Show Us Your Life topic this week is Show Us Your Singles! I decided to do a post about my daughter Ashley! Don't worry, I have her permission to do this post!
Ashley is 24 years old, and she lives in the Oklahoma City metro area. She works as a family support specialist for a Christian adoption agency. She is an active member of the Church of Christ-teaches Bible School and helps with other church activities too.


Ashley is a great girl if I do say so myself! She is pretty, smart and a very caring person. She loves kids and will make a great mommy someday.

Ashley LOVES music!!! I can't say that loud enough! haha She loves going to concerts. This picture is of Ashley and her best friend Jessica (she's married, sorry!) at the Taylor Swift concert last year. She and Jessica have been friends for almost twenty years!

Top 2 Tuesday!

Here I go again...trying to get myself back to blogging! This week's Top 2 Tuesday is reality show you would like to be on. I like so many but narrowed it down to these two.

1. Dancing with the Stars

I am a huge fan of this show! I have never danced in my life and would LOVE to learn how to dance from these fantastic professional dancers. I would prefer Maks, but Derek will work too! I could definitely see myself with that mirrorball trophy!

2. 19 Kids and Counting

I love watching the Duggars! I love the morals and values that they stand for, and I admire them for being so vocal about their beliefs. I want my son to marry one of those girls!
While on a trip to Texas, the Duggars came through our town! Jessica called and told me they were eating at a restaurant in town, so I hurried over and got to meet them! They seemed just like normal people and not like celebrities!

I had a lot of fun with them, and I definitely think we could be friends!

Friday Five!

Beth says this week's Friday Five is five favorite restaurants. This should be relatively easy for me since we eat out WAY too much, although it may be hard to narrow it down to five! I live in a small town so our choices of places to eat are very limited. We do have a few hometown businesses that are great to go to when I don't want to dirty up my own kitchen. Also, the nearby town of Paris, TX has great restaurants that we go to alot.


Angie's Circus City Diner is named after our town, which is home to several circuses. Hugo has been called "Circus City USA", due to it being the winter quarters for several circuses. The decor is circus themed throughout and really interesting for a first time visitor. Angie's has the best burgers in town! Another favorite dish of mine is their omelets! They are the absolute best! We know the staff there very well and they usually know what we want to order. We get great service there!

Another local place is Molina's Mexican Grill. I need to go snap a picture of it because I couldn't find one online. Molina's is our Sunday after church place to eat. EVERYTHING on the menu is great! My two favorites are chicken fajita quesadillas and Hortencia, which is a flour tortilla filled with fajita meat and cheese, then deep fried and covered in queso. MMM MMM good! Amanda is our favorite waitress there. She knows exactly what we're gonna get. She most of the times has our drinks waiting on the table for us before we even get out of church! She is the best!



TaMolly's in Paris, TX is another favorite Mexican place. They have some of the best food around. #11 chicken on the lunch menu is my FAVORITE-chicken quesadillas. They have the best chips and salsa too! For dessert, their strawberry crispitos are so yummy!


Who can resist Olive Garden for Italian cuisine? I can't! I love their slogan-When you're here, you're family! We don't have an Olive Garden in the area so this is a real treat when we go visit our kids in Oklahoma City. I have so many favorites here-the fettuccine alfredo is the best I've ever had. Of course, the endless salad and breadsticks are a meal in themselves. So, so good! The lasagna is almost as good as my own homemade one! For dessert, the chocolate lasagna is to die for!! If you've never tried it, you must!


And of course there's Sonic-America's Drive-In! I love Sonic for several reasons. The daily Happy Hour is one reason. That's the best idea around! I LOVE their new $1 menu too. The jr. frito chili cheese wrap is the best thing next to sliced bread! The portion is just right, although I have been known to wolf down the larger one before they came up with the smaller one. Anyway, the size is right and so is the price...can't beat it!

I hope if you're in the area and haven't been to these restaurants that you will stop in and give them a try sometime! Enjoy!

Top 2 Tuesday!

After a 5 week or so blogger's block, and much prodding from my daughter, I am attempting to get back to the world of blogging with a "Top 2 Things I Can't Live Without' post. Besides the obvious, God, church, family and friends, these are two things that I MUST have.

1. DR. PEPPER! I MUST have one every day...sometimes more than one. I know they aren't great for me but it sure does quench my thirst! I plan my errands so that I will be out and about sometime between 2-4 so that I can go to Sonic Happy Hour! Who would have thought this teetotaler would be planning her day around Happy Hour! I have tried several times to give up this obsession and I was successful for 27 days one time several years ago. I fell off the wagon and slipped back into my old, bad habit of a daily Dr. Pepper. Maybe I should buy stock in the company.


2. Lipstick! I LOVE lipstick! It's the one make-up accessory that I must have every day...EVERY DAY! I attribute this obsession to my mother. She can hardly finish a meal before reaching in her purse for her lipstick. Now, I have become my mother! I do the same thing...even leaving restaurant napkins with my blotted lips laying on my plate. Just showing a little love to the bus boy when he cleans the table. Seriously though, I do love colorful lips...not bright and gawdy, but a little color on the lips really brightens up ones face!
