Thursday Thoughts

Happy Thursday everyone!  It's almost the weekend!  In fact, my weekend starts today and I'm so excited to see my kids! Here are some thoughts for the day:
This is SO true! I have had a home daycare off and on through the years and also taught toddler and preschool Bible Class for many. many years and children really do tell it all!  I have learned so many interesting and funny things that go on in these children's homes.  Parents really need to be careful because little kids especially tell everything they see and hear!  I should write a book!
This is exactly my style of cleaning up clutter.
I tend to rearrange piles of stuff by moving it all to ANOTHER pile or under the bed!  Never, never look under my bed...Never!
This one is really kind of awful but my friends and family know this is so true also!
Now, I'm not wishing that anyone gets hurt and I will see if you're hurt before the laughing begins, but you have to admit, falls are just plain funny!  When watching "America's Funniest Home Videos', the montages of people falling are the absolute funniest things!  Of course, when I fall, I jump up quickly, looking around to see if anyone saw it and then I go somewhere and laugh at myself too!
It is true that money can't buy happiness!
I think I need to visit a cupcake shop in the very near future!
"You Are My Sunshine" is one of my favorite songs.
I grew up with my Granny singing it, my mom singing it and then I sang it to my own children while rocking them to sleep.  It's such a sweet song but also brings tears to my eyes nearly every time I hear it.
Ahhhhh...chocolate!
I must have chocolate EVERY day even if its just a little bite-size Snickers.  It's even better if a friend is there to share it with.  Well, not actually share the bite-size but give them one too!
Dr. Pepper is also a MUST-HAVE!
I inherited my love of Dr. Pepper from my Grandmother.  She ALWAYS had a stash and would share with me.  I know it's not a bit good for me, but I inherited the Dr. Pepper gene so there is not much hope in me conquering it...not that I'm trying very hard at it!
So, so true!
If I don't make lists, then I'm going to forget...simple as that! I run to Wal-Mart with just a list in my head of necessities.  When I return home, I've ended up with $100 worth of stuff...and no necessities.
I LOVE flip flops!
Unfortunately, after suffering with some foot issues, my doctor informs me that flip flops are NOT considered shoes!  Shut your mouth!  What does he know?
And finally...
No matter how bad a situation seems, always look for something positive.  It's there somewhere!

Spring Is In The Air!

Our spring here in SE Oklahoma has been so perfect for the most part!  Sunny days and warm temperatures have been  wonderful. Flowers are blooming everywhere!
This rose bush in my yard has been here for years!  One of our town doctors lived in our house probably 40 years ago and he loved roses and had them all along the fence.  This one is the only one left now so I really try to baby it and hope to get a cutting from it to plant at our new house.
Gorgeous big blooms!
Also in my yard are these beautiful pink verbenas.
My mom got a cutting from this plant from a sweet lady at church and had it planted in her own yard.  My mom's thumb is MUCH greener than mine.  Mom will have to transplant this at our new house too because I will kill it!

Across the street from us is a beautiful yellow rose bush that I need mom to get a cutting off of also.
The doctor that used to live in our house, moved across the street and filled this yard with rose bushes too.  There are only a couple of bushes left in this yard now.

Of course, along with all these beautiful blooms, there are also these pesky weeds which are wreaking havoc on my allergies!
When I was a kid, I loved these dandelions.  Now...not so much!

Last night while we were eating supper, a delivery truck stopped at our house and the guy knocked on the door.  Allan answered it and turned back around towards me, grinning and holding what he thought must be the perfect gift for me.
You can see that I'm thrilled beyond belief!  I can  hardly contain my excitement.
I've always felt bad...just a little bit bad...about not helping much with the mowing/weedeating mainly because I couldn't handle the equipment.  I've said, I guess a few too many times, that if I had a light-weight weedeater that I could handle, that I could do the weedeating.  I should have bit my tongue!
Thanks anyway, Allan! I (gulp) love it!

The Weekend

Happy Monday!
Well, none of my weekend plans worked out;( but I still had a pretty good one anyway.
Friday, I had planned to go to OKC to visit the kids and go to a book signing for Pioneer Woman.  Storms were in the forecast and after the way Sandy behaved at Mom and Dad's during a bad storm the week before, she was banned from coming for a visit with the chance of bad weather. They really had a terrible time with her and I felt really bad about leaving her with them knowing it was pretty much guaranteed that there would be storms.  She does know to take proper precautions by getting in the bathtub!
So, I stayed home and secretly thought we had better have a doozy of a storm since I'm going to miss Pioneer Woman! Friday, I waited for the weather to turn nasty...nothing happened. Friday night...nothing happened. BUT...Saturday morning she woke me up early by trying to tear my bedroom door down as there was a rumble of thunder in the distance.  This rumbling lasted about 30 minutes or so with no measurable amount of rainfall or hail or gusty winds...as had been predicted.

Since I didn't travel on Friday, we went out for supper with our church friends.  We have a really neat restaurant in the old train depot here.
We had a great time and as usual there were lots of laughs.  Fun evening!

Saturday since I didn't get to go to OKC, I lived the whole day vicariously through Ashley!  She went to the book store where Pioneer Woman was going to be and waited almost all day to get to meet her.  There were way more people there than expected.  The book signing was to begin at 1:00 and Ashley finally got her turn at 8:00 that evening!  But, it was totally worth it.  Pioneer Woman did a presentation before the signing started and Ashley kept updating me on funny things she said or did.  At one point, PW began to sing "Endless Love" to her dog, Charlie, and Ashley called me so I could listen too!  Our connection was bad so I couldn't really hear much:(
Colby came with Ashley to take pictures for her and I'm so glad he did!  I love this pic of two of my favorite people!  Ashley bought the new cookbook for me and had it signed also.
I can't wait to get my hands on it!  I think this means that Pioneer Woman and I are now BFFs!
Sunday was our usual Bible Class, church, lunch at Molina's, Sunday afternoon nap, church again, and supper at Braum's with the group.

Thursday Thoughts

This is one of my favorite sayings.  I catch myself saying it a lot to others but I do have to remind myself also, that sometimes you just have to do things you don't want to do or feel like doing.
Smile vs. Frown?  YOU do have the power to change how you view your day, even if things are not going so good.  You can not always control the circumstances but you can control your attitude! Turn that frown upside down!
Anyone that knows me, knows I wait until the last minute to do a lot of things...well, nearly everything!
I have been a procrastinator my whole life I guess.  I can remember cramming for tests and staying up late to finish projects for school.  Things ALWAYS got done and were not late, but they were done with lots of panicking!
I think most people tend to 'talk' about problems and worry over things before we turn to God about them.  Things are so much easier to handle when we go to Him first!
I think most things that we struggle with, and worry and fret over, are really not that big of a deal in the whole scheme of things.  We do need to pray and realize that God is in control but we have responsibilities to try to make things happen for ourselves also.  Things WILL work out!  They may not work out as we have planned, but they will work out in the way that's best for us.
And finally...I just love a good nap!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I was so excited for the weekend!  The kids were coming home!  They hadn't been home since Christmas and that is way too long for this momma. I spent most of Friday cleaning,  making Pioneer Woman's Chicken Spaghetti and baking a chocolate cheesecake for Ashley's birthday, which we hadn't celebrated yet.
The kids got home just in time for supper at Angie's.
Colby's friend, Derrick, ate with us also.  He just happened to be at our house when the kids got there so we invited him along.
Colby spent the evening gathering up sports memorabilia in his room to take back with him for his apartment.
He has been a sports card collector since he was about 4 years old so he has quite a collection.
Saturday, Allan and Colby went to work on the house.

Allan put Colby to work installing light boxes or whatever those square metal things are.  I know Allan was glad to have his help!
Ashley and I stayed home most of the day.  She had jewelry work to do and I just sort of did nothing!
Mom and Dad came for supper and to celebrate a belated birthday for Ashley.  She was sick with the flu back in February on her birthday and this was the first available weekend for us to all get together.
We had a good supper of chicken spaghetti, salad and mom's delicious homemade bread!  I'm so glad she's back to baking bread again.  We then had Ashley's favorite birthday cake-brownie chocolate chip cheesecake!
I always let the kids pick what kind of birthday cake they want and they have each chosen the same one for YEARS!
Happy 26th Birthday, Ashley!
After Mom and Dad left, Ashley got back to working on her jewelry and Colby and I played Wheel of Fortune on the wii.  Well, he played while I sat there and sat there and sat there WAITING for a chance to play.  He killed me in this game!
Sunday was church and Ashley helped me in my Bible Class. We went to lunch at Molina's and then came home.
Ashley's best friend and her family came by to visit before the kids left.
Jessica, Ashley and Sweet P
Colby and Sweet P
Just look at that precious girl!  Both of them!
Jessica's family left and we took our usual 'tree' pictures before changing out of our church clothes.
I love these two so much and just can't hardly stand it when they drive off after a trip home.

I hope you had a great weekend also!
