It's been a while since I did a Thursday Thoughts post so here I go again.
I was fortunate to have two wonderful grandmothers and also fortunate to have them well into my adult life. There is just something special about a grandparent relationship. They do want the best for you but they also like to indulge a bit, which is ok! Both of my grandmothers were good cooks and food from them was a real gift. I have certain foods that make me think of my grandmothers. One of them passed along the Dr. Pepper gene to me!
Yes, I am one of 'those' mothers! I don't know how many times I put my kids to bed and snuck back in the kitchen to eat a hidden treat, only to have one of them get back up and I nearly choke trying to swallow a cookie that is half eaten. Then, I had to hide any evidence of a wrapper or crumbs so that the kids don't start begging for a snack too.
No way in the world am I ever going to give up chocolate! I am not a quitter when it comes to eating chocolate. I believe our school health books should reorganize that whole food pyramid thing and put chocolate in there somewhere as one of the major food groups. For real...they should!
This is SO true! I hate being alone overnight especially and every noise is greatly exaggerated to sound as if someone is breaking in the house. I don't know how many times I've called a neighbor or a friend to come over and check things out. Of course, so far, there has never been any real cause for alarm. I hope it stays that way when we move out in the country!
So, so many people live in the past, especially when there are bad things that have happened to them. There is nothing you can change about whatever happened in the past. If it was something bad or tragic, hopefully we learn from those events and don't make choices that put us right back in those situations.
This is one of Allan's favorite sayings. He always says it to us when we're complaining about something, especially if it is something we have no control over and no way to change it. Sometimes, we just have to accept it and make the best out of it.
And finally, this is my last thought today. There is still an hour left for Sonic's Happy Hour and if you miss that, then go to McDonald's where drinks are $1 all day!

ha ha! I hid a piece of chocolate the other day when one of my kids walked in. They didn't catch me eating it. I was SO not sharing it.
