Sunday Social-Week 95

I'm linking up with Ashley & Neely for this week's Sunday Social.

1. What is your ideal way to relax?
I like to just grab a snack, drink a Dr. Pepper and lay on the couch watching tv.

2. Where is your favorite place to be?
Home! Or anywhere that my family is.

3. Who do you consider your biggest role model?
That would be my momma!  She has taught me so much through the years...how to cook, sew, run a household, raise children and the list goes on and on.  As adults, we're more than mother and daughter, but best friends. And, we share a love for Sonic Happy Hour!

4. What does your life look like in 3 years?
We will be living in our dream home that we've been building over the last few years.

5. If you could go back and change one decision, what would it be?
I don't have many regrets throughout the years but the one decision I would go back and change if I could would be to finish college.  I dropped out after my 3rd year and got married.  I promised my parents that I would go back to school some day and get my degree.  Well, so far I haven't done it but I guess there's still time!

6. What is your biggest accomplishment in life thus far?
Definitely my children!  I'm so proud of the adults they have grown up to be.

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Also, go check out my other blog "Does God Shave?" where I tell fun stories that happened in my Bible Class.

Sunday Social-Week 94

Hi!  It's Sunday and I'm linking up with Ashley & Neely for 'Sunday Social'.   It's all about the number 3 this week.

1. What are the top 3 things you can't go a day without doing?
Praying-I start the day and end the day with prayer time.  I fall asleep mid-prayer lots of night but God knows what is on my mind even if I don't finish my praying.
Facebooking-I've begun to check FB first thing in the morning before I even check email.
Dr. Pepper-I am an addict.  There! I said it!

2. What are 3 things that scare you the most?
Losing family members-I know it's a fact of life, but it is something I hate to think about.
Varmints, critters, and creepy crawly things-AND we're fixing to move to the country! Yikes!
Rollercoasters-Not. A. Fan.  I have terrible motion sickness too, so riding rollercoasters is just not good for me.
3. What are 3 places you want to see before you kick the bucket?
I'm not much of a traveler unless it's within driving distance so if Hawaii, Australia, and Italy were quick and easy to get to, I'm there!
4. What are 3 movies you will always love?
Titanic, Miss Congeniality, and I can't think of a 3rd one at the moment.
5. What are your 3 favorite current songs?
Frozen's "Let It Go" is my #1 fav right now.  I don't even know all of the words but I'm constantly belting out the little part that I do know!
"Brave" by Sara Bareilles
"Roar" by Katy Perry

I also started a new blog a few weeks ago called Does God Shave?, where I share fun stories from bible class! I'd love if you followed along!

I hope y'all have a great Sunday!

Wednesday Hodgepodge #167

I'm linking up with Joyce for her weekly "Wednesday Hodgepodge" link up.  This is my first time and I thought she had some great questions.  So, here we go!

1. Thursday marks the first day of spring...to celebrate would you rather plant a garden or go for a walk in the woods? Would either of those activities be possible on Thursday where you live?
I would definitely rather go for a walk! Yes, our weather is supposed to be sunny and warm here on Thursday.

2. When did someone last spring something on you? (or when did you last spring something on someone?)
We are in the middle of building a house so my hubby is always springing things on me...telling me to decide on countertops, flooring, paint colors, etc.

3. We often thing of spring as a time for new beginnings. What's something you'd like to start doing this spring?
I really want to start some of my craft projects that I've put off for a long time.  I've saved a bunch of pallets from our house building project and I'd really like to remake them into something useful and cute!

4. Where do you like to sit in a movie theatre? When did you last sit there, and what were you watching?
I ALWAYS try to sit in or near the back of a movie theater.  I just get kind of sick if I'm too close.  We just went to see "The Son of God" with our friends in our Bible class just a few weeks ago.

5. When you meet someone for the first time, what do you want them to think about you?
I hope people see that I'm just a genuinely nice person.

6. March is frozen food month (yes, really!). Besides ice cream (gotta make you think a little) what's your most often purchased frozen food item?
Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits! I love that I can only pull out as many as we need since it's just the hubby and I here now.

7. What's something you avoid?
I avoid confrontation at almost any cost!  I just want everyone to get along and have World Peace! haha

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Down the road a few miles from our house is this-
It's always a good little reminder that JESUS is always near and watching over us. This has been on the mountain side for as long as I can remember. It's made from rocks and someone has taken it upon themselves to keep it up and in order. When my kids were small and we traveled this stretch of road, they Would have their eyes up ahead trying to be the first one to see "Jesus on the mountain".

Have a great Wednesday!

Take Me Out To The Ballgame!

Lately in our hometown, they've been having the yearly sign-ups for summer Little League Baseball.  I always get a little sad when I hear the ads on the radio for the sign-ups.  For years,  Colby was always there to register to play ball and then we anxiously waited to see what team he would be on if it was a year he was changing teams.
He started playing t-ball at 4 years old and turned 5 during the season.  From the beginning, he took baseball VERY seriously.  He wasn't there to just run around and play with his friends.  Baseball was serious work for him.  After we got home from games, he replayed them in the living room, telling us who did what and how plays happened.  And, he was always right...not just pretending and making stuff up.  T-ball is just the cutest thing to watch!
Coach pitch came after t-ball.  This was a little harder for the kids to get used to since the ball is actually being thrown to them and not hitting it off of a tee.
Colby continued on up through the ranks of Little League and Pony League.  During his Little League and Pony League days, Allan began to coach the team.
I'm thankful that Allan was able to take the time to invest in coaching Colby's team.  For quite a few years, he participated in the All-Stars and we traveled to play in these games at the end of the summer.  We spent MANY days in the heat to watch the boys play.
I'm amazed and saddened that so many parents don't take the time to watch their sons play ball, but instead, drop them off at the ballfield for games and leave it up to someone else to cheer them on and see that they get home safely afterwards.
Baseball teaches kids so many good skills for life-such as teamwork, self-control, and how to get along with others.  There is so much to be gained and it's not just ball playing skills, even though they're learning that too. The first year he was too old to play summer ball, we were on our way to Paris and we passed by the Chamber office where the sign-ups were being held.  I don't know about him, but I got a little misty-eyed since we wouldn't be stopping there to sign-up.  Sad day that was!
Colby was also able to play baseball for our high school.  Sometimes it was several nights a week but we were always there to cheer him on.
I loved watching him play and also enjoyed having fun in the stands with the other moms.
He will always be my MVP!

Sunday Social-Week 93

Hi!  I'm linking up for Sunday Social again this week with Ashley & Neely!  This week's questions are sort of random so here goes-

1. How much time do you spend on Social Media a day?...be honest
Ok.  I probably spend more time than necessary on Facebook, but I love keeping up with what my friends and family are doing throughout the day.

2. How long were you reading blogs before you started a blog?
I followed several blogs for a year or so before I finally gave in and started a blog myself at the urging of Ashley.  Pioneer Woman was the first blog that I followed.

3. What is your favorite kind of cupcake?
I love just about any flavor other than ones with coconut in or on them.  I made some delicious Chocolate Peanut Butter Bacon cupcakes last week that were  to die for!

4. Do you eat fast food? If so whats your favorite?
Yes, I do!  We don't have a lot of choices here in my little town but I do get by Sonic or Taco Mayo pretty regularly. I'm kind of hooked on Sonic corn dogs.   At Taco Mayo, I usually just get beef and cheese nachos and occasionally I get bean nachos when they don't understand what I've ordered.  haha...anyway, those are good too!

5. What is the most random thing someone would find in your purse?
I really don't carry much in my purse that I don't actually need contrary to what my hubby might think.  I guess the most random thing I might have would be out-dated coupons to various places.

6. What is the weirdest TV show you watch?
OK...don't judge!  The question IS about the weirdest show.
I believe this qualifies as a weird one for sure but it sure has drawn me in for some unknown reason!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Happy Birthday, Dear Friends!

We had such a fun weekend!  It was one birthday party after another with our church friends.  Friday night we met up at Magel's Grill with a bunch of church friends to celebrate our preacher's birthday.

I have talked about Magel's here before because of their awesome rolls!  You can't eat just one!
We all brought cards for Steve...mostly cards to make fun of him growing older!  He's always such a good sport about it and would probably be disappointed if all of the cards were 'nice' ones!
We always have fun with this bunch of 'mature' friends even though they don't usually act their age!  They are a rowdy, fun-loving group to be around.  There is NEVER a dull moment!  We ended the evening with cupcakes made by Ellen!
Saturday night, we went to John & Tonee's house for a bacon party and it was also her birthday!  She had planned this several weeks earlier and told us all to bring a dish that contained bacon.  I knew I wanted to make a dessert so I began my search on Pinterest to find something.  I thought about making chocolate covered bacon but this last summer, Sonic had a delicious peanut butter bacon shake that I absolutely LOVED!  So, I finally found a chocolate, peanut butter, bacon cupcake that sounded just like what I had been looking for.
These were AMAZING!  I am not a cake decorator but I followed directions and I have to say that they turned out so pretty!  And, they tasted fantastic!  A great combination of flavors!
OK, back to the party.  We got there first so Allan helped John grill the bacon and burgers.
Jason & LeeAnn got there and soon it was time to eat!
Our menu was bacon cheeseburgers, jalapeno poppers, loaded baked potato salad, bacon maple blondies, and my cupcakes. Everything was just wonderful. We ate until we were just about sick!  But, sick in a good way!   After supper, we just sat around talking and laughing, and laughing, and laughing!
I'm so thankful for these guys and gals!  There were several other couples invited but weren't able to come and they really missed out!
Tonee-The Birthday girl!
What a fun weekend!

Movie Weekend With Friends

We had a great weekend!  First off, I woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking!  Allan made sausage and cheese omelets and they were so good.  He left to go work out at the house and I may or may not have gone back to bed for a while.
Allan came in from working and we got ready to head to Paris.  We met up with church friends at the movie to watch "Son of God"
via google images
We got there early so we could hopefully all sit together.  I'm glad we did because it was almost sold out by the time the movie started.  I knew the movie was going to be hard to watch and it surely was.  The beating of Jesus after his arrest up through his death on the cross was extremely difficult and emotional to watch.  I came prepared with kleenex and I'm glad I did.  Overall, the movie was well done and most of it was biblically correct.
After the movie, we went to eat at TaMolly's!  We had such a great time!
TaMolly's has the best chips and salsa!  I was full of chips way before our meal came.
While we were sitting there visiting with each other, someone looked up at the ceiling and spotted this-
It's a bird...It's a plane...it's Superman!  I don't know how long this has been on the ceiling but I've NEVER noticed it before!  We all thought it was funny and began taking pics of him!
We had such a great time and I'm really thankful that we're becoming a much closer group of friends!
Sunday we had church and while we were at the restaurant afterwards, another winter storm was fast approaching.  It began to rain, sleet, thunder, snow, and then more sleet!  Monday morning, I woke up to this-
The streets were a solid sheet of ice!
I stayed in most of the day until the roads cleared enough for me to make it to Sonic for Happy Hour!
Hopefully after this week, we'll be moving on to some Springy weather!
