What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Hi!  I hope this week is going great for everyone!  I'm still trying to recover from our hectic weekend.  There was barely any time to breathe!
This week I'm LOVING that we had a few days with Colby  last week and over the weekend.
Colby & Mom-Mom
I'm LOVING my Donny & Marie cd that the kids got me for Mother's Day!  It has some great songs on it.
I'm LOVING that Donny Osmond was on "Dancing With the Stars" last night!

I'm LOVING  a new 'person' I'm following on Twitter-Disneywords!  They send out quotes from various Disney movies all day long.
"I'll know he's the one, when he makes me laugh"-Minnie Mouse
I'm LOVING this neat man that I met on Monday as he was traveling through town.
His name is Gene Glasscock and he is traveling from coast to coast...just because.  He is enjoying meeting new folks along the way and he told me that all he's trying to do is to make people smile!

I'm LOVING that we are actually seeing progress being made on our new home!  Concrete should be poured today!
I'm also LOVING this little girl!  She is in my Bible School class at church.
Here we are making the kissy face which she always wants us to do!  Too cute!

Have a great rest of the week and link up with Jamie to share your loves!

Busy Weekend!

I was so excited for last weekend to get here!  Colby came home on Thursday!  He had not been home since the Christmas holidays, which was wayyyy too long!
I love having my kids home!  Colby's friend from next door, who just graduated from college too, came over Thursday night and the boys laughing and playing xbox games was music to my ears!  I love these times!

Friday evening, Allan and I went to meet his parents for supper.  They were camping in the area and had invited us to come eat fish.  We usually go to have a big fish fry each time they camp nearby.  I had my grungies on and was waiting by the door when Allan came in from work.  He then informed me that we were eating at a restaurant instead of actually at the lake.  I had no time to change clothes and shoes because we were going to be pushing it to get there at the set time.  I asked, "Where are we eating? I'm not dressed for a restaurant."  He said, "It's a place called 'Bubba's' and I think you'll be just fine for there.  I don't imagine anything too fancy is required for 'Bubba's'.  He was right!
We had a great time visiting with the in-laws and also my brother and his family joined us.  The food was great too.

Saturday was a busy day at church.  We were hosting our 12th Annual Lectureship.  We had a good turn out for the meeting and the speakers all did a wonderful job.
I registered people as they came in.
The speakers were:  Jack Smith, Kevin Pendergrass & Ivie Powell
Our church provided a BBQ lunch following the Lectureship.  Our church ladies are the best cooks in the world!  It was a great uplifting day spent with Christians.

After the lectureship, we went to my parents' house for Mother's Day/Dad's Birthday part 2.  My brother, Jimmy, and his family came down for the afternoon also.
Mom & Dad with Jimmy's family
Colby & Cole

Cole is the funniest kid!  As Colby started down the hill, pulling him in the wagon, he yells out, "Swing your partner, do-si-do!"  We also took alot of posed family pictures and he was getting pretty tired of it and said, "I need to rest!"  Kids this age are so funny!
Evan is doing great with TaeKwon Do!  He was practicing his skills with Uncle Allan.

The boy cousins
Earlier in the week, I won two free tickets to the Joan Jett and the Blackhearts concert.

I never win anything and I don't really know why I entered this but the offer came through Twitter and I retweeted it and won the tickets.  I didn't really even know what Joan Jett sang since I'm not a rocker girl at all.  I told Allan that I had won them and that I really didn't know what she sang or if I wanted to go to the concert.  He wasn't that crazy about going either but said he would if I wanted to.  I tried to give Colby and Marcel the tickets to give them something to do on Saturday night.  They weren't interested.  I began to youtube songs of Joan Jett and found that I did know some of her songs from back in the 80's.  So, I told Allan that I think we should go on to the concert.  So we decided to do it.
After leaving my folks house on Saturday afternoon, we decided to go on to Durant and eat before the concert began. We ate at Roma's.  DELISH!  We shared a pizza which was wonderful!
Then we headed out to the concert venue to find our way around since we had never been there before.
We got there about an hour early. The doors were open so we went on in. We got to listen and watch the band warm up and do sound checks.  Joan gave a shout out to all of us in the lobby!
We got our tickets and they were GREAT seats!  6th row, left of stage!
This David Bowie look-a-like was there too!  I'll say there were some very interesting people there...very, very interesting.
The stage
"I Love Rock & Roll"
The concert was unlike any I've been too, even though I've not been to very many.  Joan has definitely changed her music from what she sang back in the 80's.  I felt really sorry for her because it seems she has some real struggles going on in her personal life. Well, maybe she isn't struggling with them since she seemed rather content! But, there are issues she definitely needs to work out.  My eyes were really opened to what is going on in our small community here and that it seems to be accepted  I pray that these people will open their eyes and ears to what God has to say before it is too late for them.  I prayed most of the way home!
I'm sure I had several shocked looks on my face during the night!  There were two distinct crowds there.  The 40+ crowd was waiting for the old time rock and roll songs, which she didn't sing until the end.  When I looked around, 'we' were all sitting down and not applauding on certain songs during the first part of the concert.
The younger crowd was a very, very different crowd for the most part.  Again, all I can say is that I pray that they change their ways A.S.A.P.
In her defense, Joan did put on a very energetic concert and she is a great guitar player.

Sunday was worship.  People were so glad to see Colby since he had not been here since Christmas.
This is Colby's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Wallace.
Colby and one of his high school English teachers, Mrs. Copeland. Colby had another teacher, Mr. Plum, that also is a member of our church.  I didn't get a pic of the two of them on Sunday.
Colby and Mom-Mom and Granddaddy at Molina's.
We really enjoyed our crazy, busy weekend and I HATED to see Colby pack up and leave on Sunday afternoon.

Mother's Day Weekend

Last weekend, with it being Colby's graduation and also Mother's Day weekend, Allan and I were able to spend part of the weekend with each of our moms and with our kids.
Allan's mom will be forever young!  She is always mistaken for his sister, which she absolutely loves!
I would not be with my kids on Mother's Day so we celebrated at Jimmy's Egg on Saturday morning before Allan and I headed back home.  I love these two so much!
I LOVED my gifts!  Ashley has gone to two book signings lately for two our our favorite people and she got these autographed for me!
This means that Pioneer Woman and I are bff's now!
Karen Kingsbury is on my best friend list too!
Mom is one of my very best friends and such a special inspiration to me.  She is the most loving, giving, caring person!  She has a servant heart and is always doing for others.  She LOVED her new Mother's Day wagon!
Mom is such a beautiful person, inside and out!
Mom with her oldest and her youngest!  There is another one inbetween that wasn't able to come that day.  To those that may not know, I am not revealing which order that I fall into!
My brother, Doug, and his family with mom.
My wonderful parents!  My dad's 77th birthday was earlier this week so we celebrated his special day also on Sunday and will celebrate again this weekend when my other brother and his family come to visit.
Proverbs 31:28-Her children rise up and bless her!

Colby's Graduation

Where HAS the time gone?  I know it was just yesterday that I was dropping Colby off at Gingerbread Preschool for a fun exciting year with Miss Cindy.
4 years old and on his way to preschool.

Last Friday, this little boy turned into a 21 year old college graduate.
Allan and I went up to OKC  on Thursday to get ready for the graduation on Friday afternoon.  We were planning a party following the graduation ceremony, so I had tons of party prep to do.  My mother-in-law helped me tremendously with all the cooking I had to do.

Friday at noon we we met up with both kids for lunch.
We had tried 2 other places to eat, which were absolutely packed and we were on a tight schedule, before settling at McDonald's.  And I do mean settle!

After lunch, we went to the University for a reception for the graduates and their families.
Colby had to get 'all tied up' before we headed to the reception.  I'm trying my best to keep my emotions in check!  Dads fixing sons ties just puts a lump in my throat!

Such an exciting day!  When children are small, it seems like this day will be so far off in the future, but actually it comes rather quickly. Unbelievably quickly.
There he is!  He did it!  He got his empty diploma cover!  And, he's happy about it!  And, I'm about to CRY!!  Why do kids have to grow up and put their mothers through these torturous times??
Such a proud momma moment!  Colby is a wonderful son.  He is a very loyal friend and truly cares about people.  Most importantly, he is a faithful Christian, which means more to me than anything else he may accomplish in life.
Allan & I with both of our great kids.  They are truly a joy!

Colby and one of his best friends, Brooke.
After the picture taking, we headed over to the church building to set up for the party.
Oreo truffles, strawberry swirl cheesecake and Colby's favorite cookie-peanut blossoms.  There are other desserts that I didn't get a picture of such as, the life-changing Paula Deen brownies!!
More food!
One of Colby's favorite teachers/coaches and his wife came to the party.  It meant so much to all of us, not only Colby, for Coach G to be there.  He has always been such a supporter of Colby from Junior High up till now.  When Colby was in Jr. High, I went to pick him up from basketball practice and Coach G came out to the car, stuck his head in the window and asked if I had another boy at home?  One about 3rd grade age?  I told him that we didn't.  He said that he wanted a boy just like Colby for his 3rd grade daughter to marry one of these days.  What better compliment could he have given?
Colby with Granddaddy Leon and Grammy.  The other set of grandparents were not able to come and we missed them so much!
College friends-Stefano, Jack, Brooke, and Colby

Adam & Colby-IHOP and xbox buddies
The Bates family-special friends and former preacher
Colby & Stefano were roommates their freshman year and have stayed good friends since then.

The Ooleys-special friends from church.
Colby and Brooke.  She is such a doll!
Me and Stefano-my Italian son.  I LOVE him!
There were a couple of other friends at the party that I failed to get pictures of.  We had a great time celebrating Colby and his accomplishments and I'm so looking forward to whatever his future holds.
